How do I make CoughDrop talk?

CoughDrop will vocalize button presses (optionally) and sentences only when in Speak Mode. CoughDrop uses the text-to-speech engine available on your device and can also play recorded or uploaded audio if it is provided for the current buttons.

Speak Mode button

To activate Speak Mode, find the board you would like to start from and hit "Speak Mode".

Button selection

Any button you press will speak the audio specified for that button (unless this option has been disabled in the current user's preferences).

Vocalization window

To speak the entire sentence, hit anywhere in the vocalization window.

Sometimes there are device-specific issues that prevent CoughDrop from speaking text. If your device is not generating speech while in Speak Mode, please check your volume levels. If that's not the issue, sometimes rebooting the device can fix issues. If you're still not hearing anything, please reach out to our support team and we can help troubleshoot.
