When creating speech boards you may want to use images that are not contained in a CoughDrop graphics library. While you can take pictures with your device camera or add saved images from your computer, you can also add graphics you find on the web.
Drag & Drop
The easiest way to add web images to speech buttons is to drag and drop those images.
*Note* This option does not normally work on iPads and most tablets.
Before you begin this process please be sure you have the CoughDrop program open and ready to go in one tab and your web image search open in another tab.
When you find an image you would like to use on your speech board, first take a look at the image size. The larger the image the better the resolution will be. Small image sizes can look fuzzy or unclear when they are transferred.
Once you decide on an image, hover over the picture you have chosen and press and hold the left mouse button. This will allow you to "pick up" the image and drag it around the screen.
Now, drag the image to the top of the screen and hover over the CoughDrop tab to move the image to CoughDrop.
Continue to drag the image until it rests over the button you would like to hold that image then release the mouse button to drop the image onto that button.
The image may not show up immediately, but tap the button to open the button settings window and you will see the image under "picture."
Copy & Paste
If you would rather, you can copy and paste the image address directly into the button settings window when you are editing a board.
First, open your speech board in edit mode then tap on the button you want to change to open the button settings window. Select "picture" from the menu on the left.
Then, find the image you would like to use and tap it to open the best version of the image.
Now hover over the image and click the right mouse button or long-press the image on a wireless device to open the image menu. Select "copy image address" then come back to CoughDrop.
Finally, place your cursor in the input box in the button settings window and right click to open the image menu and select "paste." This will paste the image address into the button settings window and the image will display on your speech button.
Save & Load
If you cannot drag and drop OR if you plan to use the image more than once, it might be a good idea to save the image on your device and then load it onto the speech button.
To do this, find the image you want to use and hover over it then click the right mouse button or long press the image on a wireless device to open the image menu. Select "save image as" and choose a location on your device where you would like to keep the image.
When you want to add that image to your speech button, open the speech board containing that button in edit mode and then tap the button you want to edit to open the button settings window.
Choose "picture" from the button settings menu on the left of the screen. Tap the cloud and arrow icon to upload a file.
Find the image where you saved it on your device and select it to be added to your speech button.
