CoughDrop is a cloud-based app that will run on nearly any device. That means there are hundreds of device options out there for using CoughDrop. Having so many devices which can be used for AAC is a big benefit, but can also make things a bit tricky as every device is different.
If CoughDrop seems to be running more slowly on your device than you would like, there are a few simple things you can try to help speed things up.
First of all, it is always best to be sure you are running the latest version of the app. Older versions can be less agile and can make the program move less freely. If your app seems to be running slowly, please check for updates or delete and then re-load the CoughDrop app to be sure you have the most recent version.
You can find the most current version of the CoughDrop app for any platform by going to the CoughDrop website, mycoughdrop.com, and hitting the button for the app that coordinates with your device. You can also use this link to reach download options for the CoughDrop AAC app.
Because each device only has a certain amount of processing ability available, it is also a good idea to be sure you limit additional programs that are running when you use CoughDrop. While it is best to have a device dedicated exclusively to AAC, that isn't always possible. However, the number of programs running at any time will slow down the processing ability of the device and will make CoughDrop run less quickly.
On occasion, the CoughDrop program can get bogged down by unessential information that has built up as the program has been used and this can reduce the speed of the app. It may be useful to clear the program cache.
To do this, hit the "?" button in the top right corner of your CoughDrop dashboard.
A new window will open. Hit "troubleshooting" at the bottom right of that window. Next click the blue box that says "check for supported functionality."
You will be taken to a new page titled "App Troubleshooting." Scroll to the bottom of the page to a section called "App Details" then hit the "clear" button for the file storage and local storage sections. This will clear the program's saved data which may help it run faster. You will need to sign in again when you return to CoughDrop and will need to freshly sync your account before attempting to use CoughDrop offline.
Finally, you can also try entering the program through the website on your device rather than through the downloaded app. On some devices this helps the program run more smoothly. Use the web browser on your device to open mycoughdrop.com and then sign in to the program there.
If you continue to have trouble, please hit the support button at the bottom of your CoughDrop dashboard and send us a message. We would be happy to try to help.
